Donation Information

How to Donate to Yarn Angels

Donation Nights Requirements

Yarn Angels South Bay conducts three donation nights each year, typically in the spring, late summer, and early December; these afford the opportunity to meet several representatives of the organizations we serve and provide them with the results of our members' handiwork and dedication.  See Calendar for more information and  location.

Thank you, volunteers, for your generous support and dedication. Your contributions, including beauty baskets and bags for moms, kids, and adults, truly make a difference in our community. We are grateful for your kindness!

School supplies are a focus at the August donation night. In mid-July each year, office supply stores (Office Depot, Staples, Walgreen's, Target, etc.) begin selling school supplies for PENNIES (check for flyers in your Sunday paper).

At the December Donation night, NEW toys (infant thru teen), batteries, art supplies, etc., are a welcome addition to the handcrafted items donated. These will go to children and teenagers who may not otherwise receive holiday gifts.

We accepts donations of NEW clothing for women and children - all sizes.

Age-appropriate donations of games, books, puzzles, DVD's, CD music, coloring book and supplies for pediatric patients from birth to 21 years old are welcome.

SPECIAL PROJECTS

New Mom Bags
We make large tote bags filled with member-made items:a blanket, burp cloths, bibs, changing
pad, baby clothing item, a soft baby toy, and a personal item for mom.

Entertainment bags
We make small tote bags for children or adults which we fill with purchased items: coloring or
puzzle books; pencils, pens, or crayons; journals; puzzles or toys. Items are purchased with
money from our treasury.

Flannel Hearts
Parents of NICU babies place the flannel hearts next to their skin to absorb their scent, then
place the hearts with their baby. See specific instructions for “Laundering “.

12” Squares
Members knit or crochet 12” squares of any pattern or color and crochet an edging of white or
black. At designated meetings, members match them up into afghans and certain members take
them to assemble them.

Beauty Baskets
Members crochet baskets that are filled with travel-size toiletries.
Items for the new mom and entertainment bags and for the beauty baskets are stored at the
church. Just prior to donation nights, members meet to stuff the bags and baskets.
